my HP EliteBook 840 G6 Notebook PC will not play a dvd from a new dvd external hard drive.  I can play a cd in the media app, but not a dvd.  I have windows 10.

Hi:

 

W10/W11 does not come with DVD playing software.

 

What most folks use to play DVD's is the free VLC media player software you can get from the Microsoft Store.
