Help!   Running windows 10 20H2

Trying to track down a high System process CPU issue, for a new HP Elitebook x360 830 G7 ...   Has anyone else encountered this problem?  We have an external monitor connected via HDMI and an external USB webcam.   Running a trace with Windows Performance Analyzer shows usbvideo.sys as possible culprit

I see some in the Lenovo forums with similar issue: High CPU Usage After Waking From Sleep - System.exe using 30%+ CPU (SeAccessCheckWithHint+0x1c620)-E...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello @edogwv

Is your system fully updated ? Make sure Windows 10 is updated.

Ensure your drivers are latest. Download >HP Image Assistant< and run it. Ensure that all drivers and recommended setttings/software are applied/installed (there should be nothing to install on the "Recommended" tab).

Try getting your external USB webcamera out to see if your PC performs well without it.

Thanks, the OS is 10.0.19042.746,    All also showing up to date with the Image Assistant.   Do you have any other suggestions?

We plan to try switching the monitor over to a Displayport connection.  Removing the USB cam appears to have made not difference.

  • Is your Windows 10 fully updated ?

  • Is your problem occurring only when waking up from Sleep (as mentioned in the other forums you cite) ?

If fully updated both drivers and Windows and nothing else helps, would you be able to fully reinstall Windows 10 to ensure there are no issues this way ? Please, check the attached PDF file below

Let me know how it goes.
