HP Notebook - 15-r262ne
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Community,

Your help is appreciated to know why the BIOS update is not working. I have never updated this laptops' BIOS before but I felt the need to do so because something is wrong in my BIOS (it does not save any option except Hardware Virtualization option.

Methods tried:

1. Update BIOS from Windows 10 Enterprise (Disabled antivirus before).

2. Update BIOS from USB flash memory by pressing Windows+B, going to bios update screen then again fails.

3. Replaced CMOS battery. But date was already saving actually.

The failure log is below. Help appreciated on why update is failing. My BIOS revision is F.36 Insyde, trying to update to latest F.46 downloaded from support.hp.com BIOS section.

Please check the BIOS update log I linked in my first post and tell me why the BIOS is failing. I have proceeded with the steps and receive the same error.

Such as:

@tobleron,

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I would like to inform you that, I do not have any tool to check the logs. However, I recommend you try updating the BIOS to version F.45 Rev.A and check if it works.

Below is the link to download the BIOS.

Let me know how it goes.

Dear Fosette,

Please check the log I have provided in this link, as I could not attach the log on the forum so I posted it here:

https://paste.ee/p/Ya8yl

Also I would like to inform you that when I try the UEFI diagnostics from BIOS, it does not work. The log generated is simply empty and it does not run. I am not sure what's going on.

Thank you, I have tried F.45 Rev A and it failed, I have also tried F.40, F.41, & F.43... they all fail and do not continue. You do not need a tool to check the log I provided you, all you need is to look at the error messages and understand them.

Aren't there any HP advanced/technical engineers who can read bios log errors? Otherwise let me know what I can do. I believe the BIOS update is important for several reasons:

1. UEFI security is improved. Which means my PC is prone to security breaches as my BIOS rev is too old.

2. The BIOS settings are not updating, which means that certainly something is wrong and I am not sure what it is.
