I have an HP Pavilion (1 year 9 months) that after putting to "Sleep" I came back and could not wake up the Laptop. I than noticed that the underside was very hot. I immediately took it to a local repair shop. They opened up the Laptop and put a fan on it to cool it down. Once cool they noticed that the "Cooling Duct" had not been properly installed at the factory. The Cooling Duct screw holes were not held in place by the 3 screws which was not detected at time of manufacturing. They also noticed that the gel between the Cooling Duct and CPU had turned to a powder. I provided HP pictures from the repair shop. I have contacted HP and through several phones of being told "it is a warranty issue", too which I have advised that it is a Manufacturing Defect & Quality Control issue. This could have resulted into a fire, that's how hot it got. HP has refused to address this in any other way than a $25 discount....... Or I can send it in to be repaired by them over a maybe two-week period...... which means that I would have to go buy a new laptop in the interim....... I guess they don't stand by their products..............
