Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just got a new laptop,  ran the hp support assistant, went through a few updates, did a firmware update.  Asked for a restart.

Now the laptop will not turn on,  it just repeats 2-long, 4 short beeps.

Please advise, laptop is 1 hour old!!!

Try disconnecting every cable from the computer (including the power adapter), press and hold the power button for at least 12 seconds, then release the power button. Hopefully the computer will boot - then you can reconnect the power adapter.

If that doesn't work, you might need a repair - the beep code indicates the embedded controller is trying to recover the boot block, so the firmware update might have failed. As an alternative to repair, you might be able to exchange the system as it is brand new.

First laptop I've came across without a battery eject.  Having a sealed battery is stupid.

thank you for that,  Pressed power several times, reseated memory.  Left it alone after the beeps for a few minutes, turned round and windows had booted.

Updates are now continuing from where it left off.

Thanks.
