HP Probook 645 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello!

Two Probook 645 G2s return the error above - SAFE_OS in PREPARE_FIRST_BOOT - while upgrading from Win7Pro/64 to Win10. They are rebooting at 28% when working on updates. Logfile complains about access denied (0005):

CRelocateOS: Cannot move path D:\$WINDOWS.~BT\NewOS\Windows from Windows.NEW. Error: 0x00000005[gle=0x00000002]
Operation failed: Relocate OS from D:\$WINDOWS.~BT\NewOS to D:\. Error: 0x80070005[gle=0x000000b7]
Operation execution failed: 10. hr = 0x80070005
ExecuteOperations: Failed execution phase Safe OS. Error: 0x80070005
CSetupPlatformPrivate::Execute: Execution of operations queue failed, abandoning. Error: 0x80070005

The same happens upgrading via DVD, USB or D/L. I tried the suggestions to unplug all externals, chkdsk, SFC, wuaserver, clean boot and disabling USB boot in BIOS and now I ran out of ideas. Did someone see this error before?

Thanks for your help!

Volker
