I bought a HP ZBook Thunderbolt 3 Dock and it works well but according to the documentation there are two cables available to connect it to a laptop, one with an additional power plug and without. I like to buy the one without, where can I find it?  I have found the one with additional power plug: Z4P20AA

I have found the cable it belongs to the elite book dock. So when I search for parts belonging to: P5Q54AA http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=P5Q54AA

The cable has number: 855117-001

found the answer in:

The following link shows all accessories of the dock, only ONE cable, I think it is SPS-HP ZBook Thunderbolt 3 power cable A:

My documentation shows the following two options, the first is a shorter version of: Z4P20AA and was included but what is the product number of the second option?

Hello Simon

I have the same issue than you, trying to connect my Elitebook 1030 G2 to the same docking station than you.

Have you find the correct cable ? If yes, could you let me know from where and what is the part number ?

thanks

Patrice

Patrice,

I solved the issue by using a normal usb-c thunderbolt cabel. This supplies enough power to charge my spectre laptop. IMG_20181106_125906.jpg

Hope this helps,

thanks for the return

which laptop model do you have ? Is it eltibook x360 13.3 (I have a g2  1030 model) or spectre x360 ?

i have called hp and they told me I can not use a 150w docking station with my elite book (but I did not talk with a technical person - she was just looking at pdf commercial files)

the docking station for  elitebook 1030 g2 is meant to be 90w

So, if I understood well, you ve plugged à standard usb type c cable with no power plug on the side to the docking station and you manage to display your screens and get power recharge ?

can you send me the model of usb type c cable you have bought ? So no need to spend 200box on the hp cable. ? What a rip off !

thanks

Patrice,

The most importend thing is the amount of power it can transfer. The max is 100w and my laptop needed 90w. As a cabel I bought a 20Gb/s cabel, where even 40Gb/s is possible. For the specifications see below.

My laptop is a: HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl110nd. I spend sometime figuring out that only the second port of my laptop had thunderbolt capabilities. The other one is only a usb-c port. Currently I have connected two screens (full-hd), a network cabel and a headphone to the dock.

Hope it helps,

Regards

Simon

Simon

great answer, thanks for all details.

You mention that the docking station delivers 100w. But if you have the PQ58AA 150w version (and it seems to be the case) : https://store.hp.com/FranceStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=P5Q58AA&opt=ABB&sel=NTB

the output is 150w and you use a cable that can resist to 100w.

And it works !

If you confirm the above, I will do the same !

Thanks again

pat
