Hi to all, i have 20 notebooks hp elitebook 840 G3 with this issue, the laptops randomly freeze (no blue screen associated) and the only option is to turn off the computer in the power switch:
the info about the devices is:
HP Elitebook 840 G3
bios: 01.25 Rev.A
Windows 7 -64 bits entreprise (SP1)
McAfee Virus scan entreprise
McAfee Host intrusion prevention
McAfee agent
the updates are delivered via wsus and the drivers are updated
It happen also out of the docking station, in the event viewer theres no reference to any problem.
I have other HP 840 generations with the same config and i never had this issue.

Hello @CS29
The problem is not related to the computers themselves but with the image which was applied to them. I have used (use) the same/similar device running 2 different images (Windows 7) and one is having issues related to file system and AV drivers, the other was running smooth. In order to prove this, just format one of these 20 computers, install plain vanilla Windows or Linux distro and you will see they will perform differently.
You may consider removing antivirus or contacting Microsoft support for business > https://support.microsoft.com/en-mt/gp/support-options-for-business

I have similar problem with my 840 G3 which randomly freezes.
Whereas this doesn't occur on other Hp models irrespective of OS.
In my opinion, we buy these systems to run applications and solve problems, what is the essence of a system running a vanilla Windows if it cannot accommodate other applications? This means, Windows & 840 G3 have incompatibility issues somewhere.
