840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 840 G3 laptop and I want to use it as a desktop by connecting external monitor. How do I disable the battery, I want to keep this powered on all the time. The reason why I want to disable battery is that I am afraid if it is plugged in all the time the battery might go bad.

I do not believe it will do any harm. I keep mine plugged in most of the time and simply unplug every 6-8 weeks to run on battery for awhile. Mine does not seem to suffer an ill effects and I have used that process on several laptops over last few years.

Not sure there is a way to disable battery. If there is maybe someone else will chime in. I'm not familiar with the 840 G3- is the battery removeable? If so just remove and store it. If not or you would rather not remove it ,I would just unplug external power about once a month or so and use the battery until about 25% before re-plugging power.

The battery is not removable and I dont think we can either disable it from BIOS, if I leave the laptop plugged in for lets say a week wont it damage the battery?
