How to stop charging via USB C port? - Elitebook x360 1040 G6

HP Recommended
Elitebook x360 1040 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have connected an external monitor to my laptop via the USB C port. The laptop is also charging via this connection which is making a terrible whining noise. How can I stop the charging?

I can't find a setting for this in the monitor. In the laptop, Windows power settings don't have anything on this. HP Power Manager says "HP Power Control is not enabled in BIOS". Google results seem to about people wanting to charge via the USB C, not how to stop it.

Please let me know if you have any idea on how to use the USB C connection only for the picture and stop the charging.

Thank you!
