Intel plundervolt fix brakes undervolting, even with SGX disabled

HP Recommended
EliteBook 1030 G1

Hi!

I have used an EliteBook 1030 G1 for quite some time.

I used to bee happy with its battery life, especially after undervolting it.

Sadly, Intel and HP are killing my battery life..

I applied the latest available BIOS update (01.44 Rev.A) right after it became available, which was before the public announcement of the plundervolt vulnerability.

The BIOS and microcode update disabled the undervolting interface, even though I don't have SGX enabled.

The BIOS update can't be rolled back, now I am stuck with 2-4 hours less of battery lifetime.

Honestly, who cares about SGX on a laptop, especially if it costs you several hours of battery lifetime?

Are there any plans to reenable the undervolt interface in the BIOS if SGX is disabled?

If not, is there a way to downgrade the BIOS, even though it is blocked by default?

E.g. removing the buffer battery or something..

I have owned several Z-books and elitebooks over the last few years. But this limits my device in a most annoying way, without even adding an esoteric level of security (SGX disabled...). I am thinking about replacing the device (and brand), especially with what AMD is starting to offer in the mobile sector.
