Hi,
I understand that when the indication light of the webcam telling us when the camera is on is hardwired no hacker can use the camera without the light turning on. If the webcam uses software for that, a hacker can turn that light off, so we don't know that the camera is on and we are being spied on.
Many people therefore use a piece of tape or a gadget that one can slide open and closed in front of the lens.
I suppose the webcam of my Elitebook 850 G1 is hardwired, so it's safe and cannot be tampered with by hackers. But is that so?
