Hi, I've had this HP Elitebook 8440p about a year now and can't find a microphone or array. HP support sites have different ideas too. One says no mic, another says it was an option and a couple of threads say it does or should have one. The box tells me mic not found when I try to record. There are 2 din ports on left labelled with speaker and headphones ikons. Any way to determine if there is a built in microphone would be very welcome. Thanks.

Hi:
Yes, there is a built in dual microphone array in the top of the display bezel.
See the quickspecs at the link below, page 1, the two items labeled 24 in the illustration.
Since your notebook is not supported for W10 and there is no IDT audio driver that fully functions on W10 for your model notebook, most likely the microphone doesn't show up for that reason.
The notebook was only supported for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
