Issues With Thunderbolt 3 dock and Studio G3's

Hey There

 

We have bought 15 Studio G3s and docks to go with them We have ran into issues with about 40% of the docks. Not sure if its the docks or laptops causing the issues. One laptop tries 3 diffrent docks, USB and Ethernet wont work. Another laptop will randomly BSOD, if the dock is even touched it will BSOD as well. I've gone though all the posts about these issues from last summer but nothing really seems to help. Is there a newer fix that I am missing somewhere?

Issues With Thunderbolt 3 dock and Studio G3's

Hello,

 

I would request you to please download and update the following drivers in the given order.

 

 

  1. Download and install the latest BIOS:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-zbook-studio-g3-mobile-workstation/893...

 

Instructions to be followed for installation:

  1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions (Windows Only).

 

Now please restart the computer.

 

 

  1. Download and install the latest Intel® Thunderbolt Secure Connect driver:

Instructions to be followed for installation:

 

  1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

Now please restart the computer again.

 

  1. Download and install the latest Intel Thunderbolt Firmware Update Utility:

  1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

 

  1. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions (Windows Only).

 

Now please restart the computer once again.

 

Now you can download and install the following drivers in any order:

 

  1. Download and install the latest Intel graphics driver:

  1. Download and install the latest NVIDIA Graphics drivers:

  1. Download and install the ASMedia eXtensible Host Controller Driver:

  1. Download and install the Broadcom Ethernet Controller Driver:

Instructions to be followed for installation:

 

  1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

 

  1. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

  1. If a message box titled Program Compatibility Assistant is displayed after the installation is complete, click this program installed correctly.

 

  1. Restart the system after the installation is complete.

 

NOTE: It is recommended to remove the previous driver before installing new driver.

 

  1. Download and install Conexant USB Audio Driver:

9.Please update all the neccessary drivers using HP SoftPaq Download Manager (SDM):

 

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HP_SDM.html

 

After downloading and updating all the drivers please restart the computer. Now, you can connect the dock to your computer.

Issues With Thunderbolt 3 dock and Studio G3's

Hi,

We have been dealing with similar situations running on Win7 64 Bit and these docks. Some folks report things running fine and other get s series of issues from display issues, BSOD, some USB deices not recognized etc. But nothing consistent. We have been unable to reproduce it in a test environment either. The suggestions here is to run a certain version of driver is a specific order. However, this information was post a year ago and most of the drivers mentioned are either older than the ones we have injected into our image or are the same un changed version. Not sure if this list is still useful or not. Curious how things worked out for you given the info they provided at the time and was it successful and worth trying? Or did you happen to find another solution?  

 

Any tips would be appreciated
