The smaller fan in the photo does not work while the laptop is running, only when the system is turned on, in the "post" phase, the fan starts briefly just like the larger one, so it works, also after disconnecting the fan I gave 5v voltage and it works properly. The laptop was tested on various burners and in the game, the burner gpu and cpu are not able to start the fan, the temperature reached 80 degrees cpu and only the larger fan worked. During use, the laptop is clearly warmer on the side of the smaller fan, which is closer to the heat pipe, where the other side with bigger fan is simply cool.
Smaller fan: M45466-001 5VDC 0.5A
Tomorrow I will try to check with a multimeter what are the values on the pins of the plug

Hi @Dexortg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you're experiencing an issue with your HP ENVY X360 15.6 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop where one of the fans is not working. If you've identified the specific fan as M45466-001, it's likely referring to the part number or model number for that particular fan.
When one of the fans in your laptop is not functioning correctly, it can lead to thermal issues, potentially causing the laptop to overheat and affecting its performance. To address this problem, here are some steps you can take:
- Check for Obstructions: Make sure there's no debris or dust blocking the fan's airflow. Dust buildup can hinder the fan's operation and may require cleaning.
- Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches or conflicts that might be affecting the fan.
- Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest BIOS and drivers installed for your laptop. Manufacturers often release updates that can address hardware-related issues.
- Run HP Diagnostics: Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools that can help identify hardware issues. Check your laptop's user manual or the HP website to find instructions on how to run these diagnostics.
- Physical Inspection: If you are comfortable with hardware, you can open up the laptop (if it's not under warranty) and visually inspect the fan and its connection to the motherboard. Ensure that the fan's power cable is securely connected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

hello, I checked both fans with a multimeter, both get 5v on the power supply, while the smaller one has 1.6v all the time on the pwm pin, the larger one has 1.6v when it is not working, when it turns on it has 3.3v on pwm, of course the multimeter cannot will measure the pwm signal because it is a rectangular signal and the signal fill is important there, but it means that the small fan is always in the off state of the pwm. I will try to update the bios.
