Swallen battery splits the body.

Elitebook 1020 G1
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The upper body and lower body were split apart and broken by the swollen battery, because the lower (bottom) body could not take the strain. 

I was told by the HP support that this was normal and fine. Is this true?
