Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I had my device prompt for my bitlocker recovery key this morning, which I expected was caused by it trying to update to Windows 11. I guessed this based off a totally different system a few weeks back doing this. However, in this case this HP was not trying to update to Windows 11, and I am leaning towards an actual hardware issue. I am posting here to get opinions or ideas on things to check. Order of events:

  • Bitlocker tripped, looking for recovery code
  • Enter recovery codeboot into Windows
  • Suspend Bitlocker
  • Reboot
  • When trying to resume bitlocker after reboot receive an error
    • A compatible TPM can't be found
  • Open TPM admin
    • No TPM found
  • Open Device Manager
    • Device can't start (code 45)
  • Restart to BIOS
    • "Fascinating: error:
      • Question value mismatch with Option Vaue!
      • (TPM Device: mismatch value is 255.)
  • Clear BIOS & restart. No change
  • Back into BIOS, disable TPM reboot, no change.
  • Back into BIOS re-enable TPM, no change
  • Into Windows, download latest firmware installer F.35 for Envy 17t-cg100
  • Install BIOS successful, reboot
  • Into BIOS... NO TPM OPTIONS SHOW UP!!
  • Boot into Windows
  • Bitlocker can't be Resumed
  • Device manager shows TPM and indicates it started successfully
  • TPM Manager says TPM not ready
    • Click Prepare TPM and receive message that the TPM is ready.
      • Reboot... no change.
  • Reran F.35 firmware installer. No change.

I have the HP Care Pack for the device, but it's past its manufacturer warranty. Is it time for hardware work?

Anyone have other suggestions on things I can try? (Please don't say rollback FW, that's a pain. But seriously... if that is definitely the answer...OK)

Thanks!
