HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have two HP printers, a OfficeJet Pro 7740 and a HP Laserjet M234DW. The 7740 is just out of warranty and the Laserjet is only a few months old. We are a very small charity. I understand that an update was done to both my printers. I always keep a set of toners on hand.  I have tried to use my toners but neither are working, it tells me I don't have the correct chip. The cost of the non-OEM toners for the 7740 are around £25. The cost of buying a set from HP is £118. Ditto the LaserJet. We have therefore no printing capabilities. We cannot printer posters for our events, print minutes of meetings etc. I am a fan of HP printers but not of their exorbitant prices of toners.

What do I do?

Can I also say that using grey faint fonts are bad for eyesight, please tell me why I have to put up with them. I am serious, WHY USE FAINT GREY PRINT!

Firstly the 7740 does not use toner, it is an Inkjet printer therefore it uses INK cartridges. Sadly to say you have to use Cartridges (for the Inkjet) and Toners (for the Laserjet) from HP to get right chips/QR codes otherwise printers won't work.

I know they are expensive.

Regards.
