i have new USB-C G5 Essential Dock but am getting no sound or voice, is there a mute button somewhere? any tips?

Please, clarify where you expect sound to come from ? Have you plugged in a jack device like a heatset ?

 

May be you have not changed the output device in Windows ? Review these articles:

If you checked the links and inserted an audio jack in the 3.5 mm jackport, provide more info
