Hi @Nagendra01

If the USB ports on your HP ProBook 440 14 inch G11 Notebook PC are not working, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Steps to Troubleshoot USB Port Issues:

  1. Restart Your Computer:

    • Simply restarting your computer can sometimes fix temporary glitches. Ensure any devices previously connected are removed before shutting down.
  2. Check Device Manager:

    • Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting it.
    • Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks, disconnections, or errors.
    • If there are issues indicated, right-click on the USB controllers and select Update driver or Uninstall device, then restart your laptop to reinstall drivers.
  3. Power Management Settings:

    • In Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click on each USB Root Hub, select Properties, and go to the Power Management tab.
    • Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. This setting can sometimes cause USB ports to be disabled to save power.
  4. BIOS and Driver Updates:

    • Visit the HP Support website to check for and install any available BIOS or chipset driver updates that might resolve USB functionality issues.
  5. Test with Different Devices:

    • Test the USB ports with different USB devices to rule out a faulty peripheral as a source of the issue.
  6. Check for Physical Damage:

    • Inspect the USB ports for any physical damage, debris, or dust that might obstruct connections. Gently clean if necessary without using liquids.
  7. Windows Updates:

    • Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can include bug fixes for hardware issues.
  8. HP Hardware Diagnostics:

    • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to perform a hardware diagnostics test on the USB ports. Repeatedly press ESC during startup, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
