Valve will not close

Product Name: HP Deskjet 3520 All-in-one

  Paper was jammed, this removed. Now, the valve will not close. Appears to block against plastic stencil. How do I resolve this?
Subject HP Deskjet 3520 All-in-one.

Hi! @Lady15, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

 

I understand you removed the paper jam from your printer now the printer valve will not close.

 

Don't worry I'd like to help.

 

Can you share a picture of the valve you are talking about?

 

Please try the steps recommended below.

 

Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
 WARNING:
You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the HP product to avoid the risk of injuries or electric shock.
Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product if you have a USB connection to the computer.
Open the cartridge access door.
Locate the cartridge access area at the front of the product.
Gently remove any jammed paper and bits of torn paper from the cartridge access area. To avoid tearing any whole sheets of paper, pull the paper with both hands.
 CAUTION:
When you remove the paper do not touch the white encoder strip attached to the carriage.
 NOTE:
Use a flashlight to thoroughly check for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the product. If any torn pieces of paper remain inside the product, more jams are likely to occur.

 

Refer this article to further troubleshoot carriage jam issues.

I'm afraid it looks to be a hardware issue with the printer.

The printer works when I push the valve very hard down while printing.

But it will not close........

 

So I hope you have a solution for me.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

 

As you mentioned you are still unable to close the door.

 

I found a video from HP support in youtube, You can refer this video and try closing the valve.

Did you follow the steps mentioned in the video?

 

If you are still unable to close the valve after trying out the steps.
