Does any one know why warranty purchase/support begins on the day of the purchase of the warranty/support and not on the date the computer/laptop is delivered ?

If the computer/laptop is delivered quickly (2 to 3 days) after placing an order, it doesn't seem like too big a deal. However, it appears from some product reviews that quick delivery after placing an order may not happen. A reasonable alternative, to me, is to allow the purchase of warranty purchase/support within a reasonable period (5 days} after delivery. Any comment HP?

Normally on the day when paying money depending on how the retailers record the transactions. I currently have 4 HP machines,

  • One Envy: warranty started when HP sent machine to me, (1year)
  • One Omen: warranty started on the same day I bought the machine and registered (1year)
  • One Elitebook 840: warranty started on the same day I bought. Ending up had 38 months (not 36 months) warranty ,
  • One ZBook: warranty started when to took the machine home even registered 2 days later, it has 36 months warranty + Care pack.

Regards.

Actually, unless HP has changed this, the warranty actually starts when the laptop is BUILT, not when it is sold or delivered.

Thus, if it sat in a warehouse for three months and you just bought it, three months of the warranty have already been used up.

You have to Register it to reset the start date -- which I believe, then gives you 12 months from that date (for the standard warranty).
