Elitebook 8470P
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.

Since I've installed Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, or maybe before (I'm not sure), my Notebook PC stays in "Please Wait" screen for about 5 minutes, when performing an Advance Startup - Command Prompt.

This problem does not occurs with the Normal or Safe Boot startup option, but only when doing an Advance Startup's Command Prompt (Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Advanced Startup -> Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> Command Prompt).

My windows version is Windows 10 v1709 (OS compilation 16299.19) x64 En-US

My Notebook PC is an HP Elitebook 8470P, with an Intel Core i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz with 16GB of RAM & SSD Disk.

My normal startup takes about 20 seconds to get the Start screen.

I tried to do a boot logging, and I found that ntbtlog.txt report found problems regarding the load of the following drivers:

  • BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel – Microsoft – 10.0.16299.19 – 2,45MB)
  • BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\CAD.sys (Charge Arbiration Driver – Microsoft – 10.0.16299.15 – 58,8KB)
  • BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\NDProxy.sys (NDIS Proxy – Microsoft – 10.0.16299.15 – 61,0KB)
  • BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\WdFilter.sys (Microsoft antimalware file system – Microsoft – 4.12.16299.15 – 301KB)

I have performed the following troubleshooting, with no repair results:

- Do a Startup Repair with my Windows' DVD

- Do a in-place reinstall of Windows

- Run SFC /Scannow

- Run Chkdsk

- Run Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup & Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

- Uninstall video card driver, and let windows install the best for it.

- ...

I am affraid to do a bcd repair, because I do not want to lose my HP_RECOVERY partition access from boot menu.

Can you help me resolving this, please?
