Windows update now failing on laptop running Windows 10 1803 Professional

HP Recommended
Elitebook 9470M
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop is running on Windows 10 Pro, 1803

Windows update now failing on a number of driver items with error 0x80070002

Can't find a fix anywhere.

I've tried the typical resolutions, by turning off ms update and renaming the download file, but when i check for updates again, the whole ordeal starts over again.

Hi

Sometimes I use the update catalogue...

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=windows%2010%201803

With great care as it is a bit overwhelming listing ARM and INTEL etc processors, 32 and 64 bit options.

Which is why the automatic updater does the job for you.

So with Belarc Advisor giving missing KB numbers it may be possible to DIY.

BUT IT IS NOT FOR THE UNWARY.

I rebuilt machine with 1709 and deferred update of 1803 for a year. The problem is clearly with the 1803 release and device drivers on this platform. Hoping the deferral will give more time for developers to respond with updates.
