Zbook 15G5 Thunderbolt G2

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a brand new Zbook 15 G5 and have intermittent connection problems connecting to HP Thunderbolt docking station, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I get power through the dock but cannot see the dock's ethernet nor USB connections.  I am testing it with HP Thunderbolt G2 230w bases.  I have updated BIOS, drivers, firmware, etc

if the problem can be replicated by moving the usb-c/barrel cable a bit, then that is likely the problem... we have seen early production of the Thunderbolt G2 dock in some cases where the cable usb-c connector would fail and cause disconnection problems... i would also check and make sure the TB dock firmware is up to date - HP Image Assistant can query for the version and let you know if an update is needed


another troubleshooting step i have done is to set the BIOS TB setting to no security and see if it recognizes the dock fine, then reset it back to original setting
