Problem is this:

Have an HP Zbook laptop paired with an HP docking station. Connecting cables between the two are power cable and USB-C cable. During the work day, everything is fine. Computer stays on. Goes to screensave / Lock Screen appropriately so long as I don’t leave it alone for longer than say 90 minutes. I finish my workday and upon return in the morning, the computer is off. Press the power button and have to boot up from power off state.
this is not related to power off settings, I’ve checked all that.
if I disconnect the dock and plug in an alternative charger, PC stays on just fine.

if I plug in only the power cord from the dock, PC also stays on.
if the USB C dock cable is connected though, PC seems to turn off around 90 minutes later. looking at the Event viewer there isn’t a message about getting a signal to power off. Last events are usually 1502 and 1503 Group Policy messages.
also of note, when the PC turns back on, the battery is fully charged so it’s not as if the battery is running out.
I’ve updated the docking station FW, this did not help.

appreciate any ideas, it’s driving me crazy.
