battery issue

Hello anyone. I have this issue that just suddenly started happening with my laptop. Firstly, my laptop shutdown on its self at around 30% battery capacity. The issue has gotten worse now as it shuts down at around 50% or more battery life and wont turn on until I plug in the charger. Similar to that of jump starting a car, but after a while my laptop shuts down again. Another issue is that when it charges the indicator light switches from amber (charging) to white (fully charged) once it gets to 70% or above. Is there something wrong with my entire laptop system or just a power issue with the charger/battery?
