Hello Tr150,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Addressing Overheating on HP ProBook 635 Aero G7

If your HP ProBook 635 Aero G7 with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor is overheating, here are some steps to help manage the issue:

  1. Ensure Proper Ventilation:

    • Make sure your laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow airflow.
    • Avoid using the laptop on soft surfaces like beds or couches that may block vents.
  2. Clean Air Vents:

    • Dust can block the vents, so regularly clean them with compressed air to ensure they are free of dust and debris.
  3. Update BIOS and Drivers:

    • Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version. Check for updates on the HP Support page.
    • Update your AMD graphics drivers through the HP website or directly from the AMD website.
  4. Adjust Power Settings:

    • Go to "Control Panel" > "Hardware and Sound" > "Power Options."
    • Select a power-saving plan or customize your current plan to reduce processor and graphics performance which can lower heat generation.
  5. Monitor GPU Usage:

    • Use utility tools such as Task Manager or third-party software to monitor GPU usage and identify unnecessary processes or applications that are hogging GPU resources.
  6. Enable HP CoolSense:

    • Some HP laptops come with HP CoolSense technology designed to optimize the system for cool operation.
    • Make sure this feature is enabled if available.
  7. Advanced Thermal Management:

    • Consider using cooling pads or external fans designed for laptops to help manage heat better.

If you've tried these measures and your laptop still overheats, it might be necessary to seek support from HP for further assistance, as overheating can sometimes indicate deeper hardware issues. Always back up important data before proceeding with potential repairs.
