elitebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

shift+insert doesn't work on elitebook 840 G7 model, this is very unfriendly towards the developers (especially Linux platforms) already tried going through a few of similar questions but they don't really provide a 'HP solution' to this, they rather redirect to third party apps such as MapMyKeyboard, KeyTweak(only this works) etc.

Description:
1. Shift+Fn key (enables Fn key)
2. Fn +F10 -> Insert key
3. Shift+Fn+F10 ->works like Shift +F10

4. Shift+Fn (disable Fn key)

5. F10 -> works like Insert
6. Shift+F10 -> still works like shift+F10
In short, there's no way to get to Shift+Insert
what has worked for me is as below(but i would like a 'HP solution' to this which doesn't break my fingers trying to get a long shortcut where i have to press 3 to 4 keys to get a basic functionality):
There is a almost useless key 'Prt Scr' (print screen) available on the keypad.
using KeyTweak (please go through pros and cons of the software on their page), i have remapped it to Insert and it works, screenshot for Reference:
