you should have no issues using the two onboard M.2 sockets on the xeon w models,  and using the onboard motherboard M.2 and a  PCI-E M.2 card in the Intel core-x models (i recommend the HP turbo z cards)

also note that the evo line of ssd's have not been validated by hp for use in their workstation line in business usages

what this means is that the performance may not be as expected in some cases due to the evo using TLC  vs MLC nand

all ssd's using TLC, have a pseudo buffer of SLC  nand and if you fill the buffer the SSD speed will slow down dramatically

if your usage will not fill the buffer, then a evo based ssd most likely be suitable for you

Thanks for the quick response, and links-helpful. Had a clarifying question, You mentioned "if your usage will not fill the buffer" what usages does fill the buffer or minimally  or not? Also someone mentioned to me that of the 2  m.2 workstation slots one is faster or a full m.2 for evo plus nvme card such as this one, is that true? if so which one should I put it in. Actually we didn't get 2 500gb evo plus card,  we got a 1tb evo 960 plus to install utilizing it as a "c" drive for os and also for editing 4k video using premier pro cc on it.
