Does a Nvidia m40 24gb work in a hpz440 workstation? Because i did try to this today, but when insert it into my system i get the usual 4 bleeps and red led. I did order a 6pin/8pin connector to give it the extra needed power(700 watt). I switched slots multiple times with the quadro default card., removed the cosmos battery, also the yellow button, pressed the power button , did try to find a bios setting which might cause the bleep. Any help or suggestions is welcome. I need to know if would fiit, which would surprise me , cause if even the 4060 can fit, then why not this old card. (I know it needs additional cooling.)

all of the information needed to answer this question can be found in the HP documents for this model system
please try looking at them in the future, as the "quickspecs" and "service manuals" are quite helpful
from the quickspecs:
https://www.itcreations.com/user-manuals/z440/hp-z440-workstation-quickspecs.pdf
HIGH-END
700 watts wide-ranging, active Power Factor Correction, 90% Efficient, with two graphics power cables
700w PSU will support up to 225w of graphics
this means 225 watts TOTAL for all video related cards or devices that use the GPU power connectors
the nvidia M40 ACCELERATOR card is not a video card but a co-processor card that REQUIRES A EXISTING VIDEO CARD such as the quadro M6000 and the m40 draws 250 watts which is over the 225 limit by 25 watts plus whatever the installed video card needs, so no the m40 is not a supported or recommended configuration for the z440, o also have not touched on the fact that this accel card is passively cooled and requires a specific computer case chassis that can provide proper cooling

last, a dual graphics configuration also requires the HP Z4 Fan and Front Card Guide Kit to be installed
