I have a HPZ24n G3 WUXGA monitor attached to HP Z1 TWR i7 PC - when the PC is idle after 10 minutes & monitor is still on (music still playing) - there are "beeps" which I presume are there to warn about a PC still switched on & consuming power. How do I turn those "beeps" off?

Welcome to the HP Community --
One possible solution - relevant to recent Windows
Control Panel > icon view > Sound
Tab Sounds
Under Sound Scheme
Open the Drop Down Menu >
Select No Sounds
OR
Select Windows Default
If you know the sound you want banished,
Select (Click) that Sound in the list of sounds >
Under Sounds: > Scroll the list of available sounds (to the top of the list) > Select None
Click Apply to save your changes

Thanks Dragon-Fur -this is obviously the right area but under my Control Panel Settings I don't have the options in my menus as you point me to. We must be on different versions.
Also I don't recognise what the sound is called that keeps beeping.

True - I am guessing about both the system model and the Operating System / version.

I know what I have -- I have no idea what you are running. Smiling.
In general, Beeps come from Sounds or from Alarms.
Guess
Perhaps your Graphics or Audio driver is out of date --
Not sure why it would beep -- I usually get flashes, blue screens, all sorts of fun bits -- not beeps.
I am running completely different hardware from your "Z1".
In general, check Drivers for this category as you do for other drivers.
Hardware for which there is a driver attached is listed in the Device Manager.
The next place I'd look would be the Event Viewer.
If you were running a version of Windows that supports the option,
You could check the Reliability Monitor.
Right-Click on Windows start menu > Run
Enter / Type command C:\Windows\System32\perfmon.exe /rel
?
Rats.
I am sorry I could not help.
