Battery life is expired. Are batteries covered on laptop factory warranty

no, batteries are considered consumable items and are not part of the laptop warranty

 

however they usually do have a seperate 1 year warranty  which is what HP usually offers based on the sale date of the laptop if it is a new retail sale from HP or a authorised HP reseller closeout sales from HP or refurbished models have different warranties' as do systems sold by 3rd party resellers
