Hi Chen,

Good Morning!

 

Your last post was successfull deploying HPDM Agent from scratch and it works, but i am facing one problem again after successfull installation of HPDM Agent from scratch installed the Win10 image by central server that's only worked but other clients i deployed via local server but it doesn't work.

The other all task is working by local server except Win10 image deployemnt is not working i have put time 300 minutes but still not finished became timeout even the server is in local but the same i deployed with central server which is not local but it deployed image in same time 300 minutes successfully.

My problem is all task is working by child server but why image deployment is not working by child server?

Hey Chem,

 

Thank you very much your last post install HPDM Agent from scratch worked successfully.

 

But the problem is i have install HPDM Agent on 5 clients which were facing problem, 3 clinets i dpeloyed image Win10 from central server it works and 2 deployed by local server but doesn't work.

 

All tasks are working from local server but image deployment is not working its became timeout and provided execution timeout 300 minutes  and the same i provided from central server it worked even the server is not local.

My problem is why i am not able to deploy image via local server which is locally available but from central server it works even the server is not local.

But the problem is i have install HPDM Agent on 5 clients which were facing problem, 3 clinets i dpeloyed image Win10 from central server it works and 2 deployed by local server but doesn't work.

 

All tasks are working from local server but image deployment is not working its became timeout and provided execution timeout 300 minutes  and the same i provided from central server it worked even the server is not local.

I would assume the Central Server and Local Server are exactly the same from the Server configuration perspective. (Please double check otherwise the following troubleshooting will be useless)

 

Regarding the "Image deployment failed on Local Server",  are you able to find out if the deployment process is finished? is this just Deployment Task status keeps in "Processing" till "Timeout"? 

 

I'm asking this because after the image deployment, there is a fresh new image on the Thin Client, the DM Agent has to find the DM Gateway in order to let the task be continue. 

 

HPDM has provided several options to help DM Agent locate the DM Gateway like through "DHCP option", "DNS record", "Broadcast within the same subnet", etc. It depends how you want configure it.

 

So when you say "Local SERVER" is locally available, does that mean the local server and the thin client are in the same subnet? Could you please elabrate more on this if it doesn't.

 

One last question would be, for those two "Failed" Thin Clients, are they able to connect to the central server?  It could happen that after the image deployment, the new DM Agent on the deployed image read the "DHCP option" then report to the Central Server, so that it will never receive the post image task.

Actually we have many different sites and for every site we have one Local server/Child Server with same subnet of thin-clinets and one Central Server for management of all sites thin clinets from one place this is different subnet of any site.

So every site is working well from child server and Central server, it means we can perform any task from locally by use of local server specially new image deployment because its large file as well as central serval. Rest of all sites working propely from both sitdes local and centreal except one site what we discussing now.

 

 

In the Local server while image deployment  Deplyoment process is not finished it just deployment task status keeps in "Processing" till "Timeout", finally became timeout "Task became timeout, sending query message to the Agent" whether we provide execution time 300/600/999 minutes.

 

The two thin clinets which are failed or prcessing till timeout, when i go to thin clinet >control panel > HPDM Agent > i found empty in the Current gateway, may be this is the reason, if here we provide local server gatway then deploy image then may be work :

If i go to other TC where i deployed image from Central server,the go to >Control Panel > HPDM Agent> here i found current gateway IP of the Child server.

 

 

Even in the starting i didn't find any solution  of this problem and i need to deploy image urgent, i have deployed all this site image via Central server.

 

About your last question:

These two clients are not pinging from central server but from the Local server its pinging , so no chance to deploy any task fro central server.

I agree with you that task keeps processing till timeout should be caused by the EMPTY current gateway address.

 

Check the discover.log on the Thin Client side to track what DM Agent has been done to locate the DM Gateway when you have time to duplicate the issue.  It could be the network issue that IT admin disable the broadcast on specific subnet.

Hey Chen,

 

As i can see from the below discovery.log, the DM is located the current gateway. So the problem might be in network that IT Admin disable the boradcast on this domain as you said ?

You got me on this.

 

I was checking the potential reason on this case but haven't got any clue. As long as the DM Agent can LOCATE the DM Gateway, it should be able to perform the next task instead of reporting Timeout.

 

One last try if you don't mind:

  1. When the task stopped in "processing", check the .task folder at ..\HP Device Manager\Gateway\.task to see if the task still exists
  2. If it does exist, manually input the Gateway address in the Agent Configuration UI on the client side and restart the DM Agent to see if the task could be finished.
  3. If it doesn't exist means for some reasons DM Gateway delete the unfinished task by mistake, we then need more details for R & D to debug 

 

BTW, forget about the broadcast thing, that won't be the issue as long as DM Agent doesn't lose connection with DM Gateway.
