Change master in a HPDM master/slave setup

We have an existing installation of HPDM 4.6 SP4 consisting of a master server and two child servers.

Now, the office location that has the master server will be closed down and the server will be decommissioned.

One of the two existing child servers will become the new master.  All 3 are currently functioning as

HPDM Gateways.  The repositories are already sychronized.

What will I have to do to make this change in the server install?

I assume that the Master Server and Child Servers are DM Repositories.

So the question turns to be: how to retire the original Master Repository Controller and make one of the Child Repository as Master.

Basically you have to:

1. Stop the old master Server
2. Install HPDM Master Repository Controller on one of your Child server
3. Remove the certificate files hpdmskey.keystore in ..\Server\bin from DM Server side to unlock the binding between HPDM Server and origiinal Master Repository Controller
4. Open the Repository Management dialog from DM Console. Remove the old Repository record and add the new one accordingly.
5. Test the new repository to check the connection.
6. Send payload related task for final check.

Is there no required action to move the database used by  HPDM from the master server to the slave?

Can this be done internal to HPDM or do I need to use the MS SQL procedures for moving the database?

Will the moved HPDM master find the moved database?

There are two ways for DB migration:

When installing a new instance of HPDM on a new server, in the DB Setup phase you have three options:

1. Create New DB
2. Use Existing DB
3. Migration DB

You can simply choose migrate DB and specifiy the source DB server and Target DB server to make the migration automatically.

You can use the Backup & Restore tool:

1. Backup current DB and data files

2. Create new DB in the new server

3. Restore the file to the new server
