I'm quite sure it won't. Are you aware that the Z820 generation of workstations (and the Z420/Z620) does not support use of NVMe M.2 SSD sticks?
You need to move up to the next generation... the Z840 (and the Z440/Z640) to get that capability. Those workstations require use of a PCIe card called a Z Turbo Drive and HP makes the ZTD G2 plus also a ZTD Dual Pro and a ZTD Quad Pro that provide M.2 sockets for (in sequence) 1, 2, and 4 M.2 sticks to be run off of the HP-specified PCIe slot(s). I've posted quite a bit on that here recently.
Those require use of the later HP BIOS versions, and you turn on "bifurcation" in BIOS for the PCIe slot the DP or the QP are inserted to enable that.

to be a bit more specific, this asus card has 4 m.2 slots and requires the system bios support bifurcation which splits the pci-e slot from x16 into x4/x4/x4/x4 the z820 does not support bifurcation so the card is not useable as sdh noted the Zx40 systems do support bifurcation
