Complete new WIN 10 installation: which HP drivers should I install

HP Recommended
Z420
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm about to install WIN 10 from scratch on my Z420 workstation.

I downloaded all drivers and software from the "HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads" section:

http://tinyurl.com/y7uzr4gp

My two questions are:

1 - Should I install ALL of this software - or is there anything unnecessary?

2 - In which order should I install the drivers/software?

TIA

@ajaja

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

When I clicked on that link, the driver page that opened showed it was for Windows 8.1 -- and since that model PC comes in a variety of different hardware configurations, there were multiple drivers -- each for a different hardware set.

When I changed the page to Windows 10, it was a much smaller list, and if that is what you are seeing, then yes, you need to install all the drivers.

The first drivers to be installed should be the Chipset Drivers.  After that, the order really doesn't matter although I usually do the Graphics next to get a decent display with good resolution.

Good Luck

Thank you very much for your welcome and your quick reply!

And sorry for the link - it seems to automatically detect your OS and then display related results...

I'll post the list and my detailed problems with it later.

Hi, here is the complete list, please take a look.

Software and driver results for: HP Z420 Workstation & Win 10 (64-bit)

Driver-Chipset(2)
* Intel Chipset Drivers for Microsoft Windows
* Intel Management Engine Software v11.6
[I'll install both drivers in this order]

Driver-Graphics(1)
[here I have to install the Avid certified NVIDIA driver: 375.86 whql]

Driver-Network(1)
* Intel Network Connections Drivers Release 21.1 for Windows 10 64-bit
[I'll install this driver]

Driver-Storage(2)
* Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise  /  4.5.6.1004 Rev.B  /  Feb 2, 2017
* Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise  /  4.3.0.1198 Rev.B  /  Jul 30, 2015
[I assume that these are two versions of the same driver. So I'll install only the first (newer) one]

BIOS(1)
* HP Z420/Z620 Workstations System BIOS  /  3.91 Rev.A
[I'll update the BIOS prior to the new OS installation]

Firmware(2)
* Intel Management Engine Firmware Update and Utilities  /  8.1.71.3608 WS Rev.A  /  May 4, 2017
* Intel Management Engine Firmware Update and Utilities  /  7.1.91.3272 WS Rev.A  /  May 4, 2017
[Both drivers are released on the same day! I can't find any difference, but I'm not sure...
I would install only the first one.]

Manageability-Tools(1)
* HP Client Management Solutions Download Library >Download page
[Since this is a standalone workstation, I think I do not need any of these softwares.
So I'll install nothing from the download page.]

Software(1)
* HP Performance Advisor Software
[I maybe try this, I think it's optional]

Thank you very much for your help!
