Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Could this procedure be applied to a HP-2003es that cannot detect NVMe in BIOS and boot with it?

I am trying it without success.

Thanks in advance.

yes it will work, however for your system as it's not a UEFI aware bios you will need to use BOTH duet and refind

so follow the directions for the z800, but try the later 2020 version of duet/refind

https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/guide-nvme-boot-for-systems-with-legacy-bios-and-uefi-board-duet-r...

basically create the duet/refind bootable usb key (1gb to 256gb key recommended), then insert this key in desired system you want to boot nvme, set system to boot from usb key

you will most likely be shown a list of usb ports on boot select them in order one by one rebooting each time till it boots and no longer shows the same screen

now insert your nvme boot drive (if not already installed)

place a 64bit windows 8/10/11 installer usb key in a free port (leave duet/refind key in same usb port) power on and it should load the duet nvme boot code and auto transfer to the windows usb key installer, now follow the normal windows install steps

when the windows installer loops back to the windows install screen the second time remove only the windows install usb key and reboot or power cycle the system windows install should now continue/finish from the nvme drive

if your computer has a internal usb 2.0 header, i recommend using that along with a usb key that has a all plastic body

this way the nvme boot loader is inside the case and will not accidentally be removed
