Product: HP Z820 Base Model Workstation

Hello, I wonder if someone could help me. I'm seeing the disk light flashing every two seconds or so. It does it when booted from the hard drive or even when using live boot USB sticks (multiple Linux distro's). The USB sticks I use have an LED to indicate activity and despite the PC disk light flashing, the USB LED is not. No hard drives are mounted at the time as everything is in memory and yet the disk light still flashes every 2 seconds. What can it be?
