Does my PC need a BIOS upgrade? I cannot find out on the web site...
The current BIOS is Hewlett-Packard 786D5 v02.38, 25/10/2010.

Hi:
Your PC has the latest BIOS update available.
Check under the Vista driver support page, and you will see that v2.38 is the latest one.

Thanks Paul. I don't have Vista, I have Windows 10 (as stated). Does the same information apply?
That link to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-xw8400-workstation/1844968 just says "We were unable to find drivers for your product."

You're very welcome.
The BIOS update on the Vista support page was the last one HP released for your PC no matter what operating system you are running.
You get the "We were unable to find drivers for your product" message because HP did not release any drivers for W7 or newer for your PC.
HP only developed W10 drivers for PC made on or after August of 2013.

All I can say is that they need to explain it better. It would have saved me about 2 hours hunting around the internet trying to find an answer.
My commonest adage to my software developer team was, "DON'T MAKE ME GUESS!"

Yes, I wish that HP stuck to its old method of having the user select the OS version from a drop down menu instead of the support site detecting what OS you are running and then giving you that message if the PC does not have drivers for that OS.
For example if there had been a newer BIOS on the Vista support page, you could have installed it using the F10 BIOS setup flash method.
