Error installing IME firmware

HP Recommended
Prodesk 400 g2.5 sff
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Installing SP87844 results in:

  Error 8746: Firmware update not initiated due to invalid image length.

 

The size of the BIN file is 9032 KB.

i don't know where the sp number you posted came from but it's not one HP recomends for your system

Thanks for your reply. SP84442 is the IME driver, which I've already installed. I'm trying to install the firmware update, which is under "firmware" in the link you provided.

what is your current ME firmware, i ask because HP does not show any firmware updates as being needed for this model

 

besides the  sp87844  9.1.43.3004 Rev.A

 

i would redownload the file

 

to install,  enable AMT in the bios and restart

 

install the latest AMT software and reboot

 

now check device manager for a com 3 listing, if shown procede to amt firmware update if not stop and let me know

 

create a bootable usb key, and copy all the extracted  files from the SP87844 onto the key

 

reboot using the key, and run the "update".bat file

 

once the update is finished i would recomend uninstall the amt software/disabling it in the bios unless you actually use it as it's known security risk
