Hi,
i have an HP Compaq 6200 Pro MT with 4 GB Base RAM.
I've upgraded the RAM with 2 x 8 GB RAM DIMMS. The RAM was detected and the Computer starts. In the Task-Manager the total RAM of 20 GB ist detected and works. Now sometimes the PC just crashes.
Sometimes when the PC crashed there is no chance to start the PC again. The Power Cord must be removed and attached again. Further the Computer makes very loud fan noises and after that the Computer starts...
Today the Computer not starts and the "bulb" LED in the Front is flashing RED. Also there is an beep sound. I removed the "new" RAM and with only the old RAM the PC starts without Problem.
The BIOS Version is HP J01 V02.01. from 06 April 2011.
Is there anybody who could help me ? I've tried to update the BIOS Version but iam not finding it under Downloads for the Computer.
Thank for any advise

Hi:
I don't think it is a BIOS problem.
Probably the PC doesn't like the brand memory you installed.
I used this memory in two HP 8200 Elite CMT's which use the same BIOS as yours, and I have 32 GB of memory running in both of them just fine.
The BIOS updates can be found under the Windows 7 driver section.
If you did not install W10 in EFI mode, do not update the BIOS beyond version 2.28 or it will take over 2 minutes for the PC to restart from a warm boot, unless you go into the BIOS and hide the TPM device.
Since the windows BIOS flash was written to be run in Windows 7, use the F10 Setup BIOS flash method, so that you are not in Windows if you decide to update the BIOS.
It is very simple to do.
See this discussion for how to update the BIOS on your PC.
