I want to add an additional Power ON button on Z640 Motherboard (without using the main power cables)

 

Is there any place on the motherboard where I could connect 2 pins to turn ON the computer? Or some other idea, maybe?

I was unable to find an actual diagram of that 26 pin connector.

 

What are you trying to do?

There is a suggestion to just add a reset switch (bottom of post by @DGroves

Note that using a remote switch for power on / off or reset does not properly shut down the windows (or linux) system .

 

Note also that above post mentions the 18 and 26 pin connectors have similarities and (seemingly suggested) part of the pinouts are the same.  If that is the case then the following might be usable

why do you need another power on button?

 

where would such a button be placed?

 

what is the environment the z640 is placed in?
