Elitedesk 800 G1 ultra slim
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm having a real problem getting my Graphics card to work in my system. The specs on this machine state that a AMD Radeon 7650A should work. I am running a 230w power supply on the system but still get no video when card is plugged in. When card is removed computer boots off the mSATA SSD in seconds. But...I just can't get the card, that the system specs says is the right card for the system, to work properly. Can someone with some better understanding of this issue help me get this working? Thank you...

Druzzo,

If the system is running Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics,  it's possible the change to a discrete GPU must be selected in BIOS/setup. That would mean plugging in the Radeon 7650A, booting to BIOS, setting the 7650A as the primary display adapter and thereby disabling the integrated graphics. This may involve enabling the 7650A slot.

On Passmark Performance Test baselines there are 73 HP Elitedesk 800 G1 ultra slim systems tested.  The best Radeon HD 7650 2D = 802 3D = 877 and the best Intel HD4600 2D = 771 /3D= 870.

did you order the correct heatsink for the new video card? MXM cards REQUIRE A HEATSINK TO FUNCTION

if a heatsink is not installed, the card will immediately overheat and shutdown and the card may also be damaged by prolonged running without a heatsink

Graphics heatsink assembly - For use with the discrete graphics card - Includes replacement thermal (MXM 3.0, USDT)
