HP EliteDesk 805 G6 and HP ProDesk 405 G6 both with AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650GE with Radeon Graphics using the same display/TV but functions differently.
Issues/Questions:
- Why does the EliteDesk Flex IO HDMI port not work with my TCL TV but the ProDesk one does?
- Is there a way to get the EliteDesk to display at the same settings (3840x2160, 60.000 Hz, HDR) as the ProDesk?
Info:
- Display/TV - TCL 75R615
- Connecting via HDMI
- Supports 3840x2160, 120 Hz (really just 60 Hz, and HDR
- EliteDesk
- HDMI port is via Flex IO port (motherboard has 2 DisplayPorts)
- Using HDMI display only shows black screen or brief flickers of an image but not enough to try to log-in and adjust display settings
- HDMI port does function with a different HDMI computer monitor instead of TCL TV
- Using a DisplayPort to HDMI active adapter, able to get image on TCL TV at 3840x2160, 29.970 Hz, SDR
- Adjusting refresh rate to 60 Hz leads to TCL TV flickering
- HDR option not available
EliteDesk 1
EliteDesk 2
EliteDesk 3
- ProDesk
- HDMI port is integrated into motherboard (not Flex IO port)
- HDMI port connects with TCL TV at 3840x2160, 60.000 Hz, HDR
ProDesk 1
ProDesk 2
ProDesk 3

the HP flex IO module is available in two revisions your system uses the "V2" rev module, the v1 module will not work
DisplayPort Flex IO v2 Card (13L54A)

depending on your model system you may have only onboard video or a optional discrete video card installed
read from the attached pdf file starting from page 13 on how to enable your video

DGroves, thank you for the response. The User Guide you attached doesn't seem to apply to my HP EliteDesk 805 G6 Desktop Mini PC. BIOS Advanced > Built-In Device Options does not have an option to enable graphics, also unsure if the fact that my system is an AMD system plays into this also?
To restate also, the HDMI port does work with a computer monitor that has HDMI but does NOT work with the TCL TV.
BIOS Advanced
This is a picture of the HDMI Flex I/O board. This is the board that came with the system shape of it and markings seem to confirm it's a V2 module?

the issue may be with the TV display device rather than with your HP system
many consumer video devices tend to play fast and loose with published specifications
and as result brand A can connect but brand B can't
also many (most) TV's now have updateable firmware that is nowadays almost a prerequisite requirement to do in order to fix numerous problems found
most computer display monitors on the other hand almost always adhere to published video display specs from the VESA standards (although some don't)

I see. Just odd that my ProDesk with similar specs but onboard HDMI output works for 3840x2160, 60.000 Hz, HDR but the EliteDesk with Flex IO HDMI doesn't display the same.
You think it's worth talking with HP phone support and or trying to but another Flex IO HDMI module? Not sure how much I really want to invest into the EliteDesk for basically HTPC use case.

again, i've found that in most cases like this it's not the computer(s) that are the source of the problem but the consumer display device (a TV in your case)
VESA is a set of standards for the manufacturing of flat screen televisions and PC monitors.
and there are also numerous HDMI Versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.0 and 2.1 known as HDMI UHD
the HP flex HDMI I/O module being a recent product supports HDMI 1.4 HDMI 2.0a w/HDR + HDCP 2.2
(as far as i know rev 2.1 is untested by HP which is used with 8k video)
