HP 8200 SFF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was trying with no success to upgrade my HP 8200 SFF i5-2400 with an i7-2600k. As I've understood this cpu would be compatible even though limited to use with no overclocking..

When I install it I get 6 beeps and 6 red lights followed by 2s pause which refers to a pre-video error!

Well as I understande the i7-2600K as an inbuilt GPU (HD 3000) does it means it's a faulty CPU? may it still run with an external GPU?

As a side note I tried to pair it with a 1050ti to check the problem but this GPU doesn't appear anywhere not even the bios.. May it be locked by some option on the bios itself? The fans spin but it's like the GPU isn't there 😕

Thanks in advance

Hi:

The  i7-2600k is not a supported processor.

Below is the link to the 8200 Elite quickspecs.

http://shop.itema-pg.com/userfiles/editor/file/hp8200sff.pdf

The only processors you can install in that model are the ones listed on pages 8 & 9.

The supported processors are listed by form factor with an 'X' in the column.

the 8200 Elite SFF is not rated by HP for a 75  watt video card like the 1050, only 50 watts or less due to the 230 watt pwr supply

use a nvidia 730, or a ATI/AMD/6-7 or 8000 series card they are all under 50 watts , also replace the i7-2600  (95) watt with the i7-2600s (65 watt) which is the low power version

HP fails to mention in the quickspecs that the SFF models must use the "s" low powercpu's, although the Mini tower models with the 320 watt pwr supply can use the non "S" 95 watt cpu's

last, the SFF model is not the same as the Ultra Slim Model(s) it uses a different motherboard/power supply

google  HP 8200 ultra slim motherboard, and HP 8200 elite sff motherboard to see pictures of each board

and the Ultra Slim MUST ALSO USE the "S" series cpu's (no 95 watt cpu support)
