HP Device Manager v4.7 SP13
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

Hi,

I've recently upgraded our HP Device Manager v4.7 installation to SP13 and since the upgrade I'm having problems running any tasks with ThinPro 5 devices, update agent, get asset information, reboot etc. stuck at the 'sending' status state. The task successfully sends to the HPDM gateway, but doesn't get any further. The  'Last time online' status is successfully been reported to the console.

,

ThinPro 6 and ThinPro 7 TC's I have successfully managed to update agents, reboot, get inventory etc., problem seems to be only with ThinPro 5 devices.

Any idea's what the issue could be ?

Also, we have having logon issues with 'legacy' AD imported accounts i.e. those where you login to HP DM console with just the AD 'username', no domain specified. HP DM users which were imported in more recent times that logon with domain\username can login OK.

Is there a fix for this or am I going to have to just re-import the users which unfortunately means they loose their custom console settings ?

Thanks

I'm having the same issue and when looking at it with Wireshark, it points to SSLv3 handshake failures. Its causing me a big issue and reenabling it in the Server OS does nothing so its definitely an HPDM patch issue

Yeh something to do with SSL, seeing this error in the gateway log:-

Invalid SSL status: SSL_ERROR_SSL. Error messages: 6096:error:14209102:SSL routines:tls_early_post_process_client_hello:unsupported protocol:ssl\statem\statem_srvr.c:1686:

I've logged a call with HP, so far they have referred me to the release notes but can't find anything which says ThinPro 5 is un-supported after the update, only issue is using HTTPS for imaging which we don't use, we use FTP

Good luck getting any meaningful support. We logged a case for a failure to image and they were glacial in their responses.

I have a feeling the issue is with the updated version of OpenSSL that gets installed with the new release and that it removes DES for AES.

Due to our last support experience I've rolled back (uninstall and reinstall) to SP12 which we tested with a problematic machine and it all now functions fine. We will go through a process of updating the agents to 4.7.xxx (something) and then build a test HPDM on SP13 to see if that fixes the issue some where down the track

I'll keep an eye on this thread so if they give you a workable solution, I'd appreciate it if you could post it

Well you were right, didn't get much help from HP, advice was ThinPro 5 no-longer supported, rollback HPDM to previous service pack, which annoyed me as they could have made that clear in the SP13 release notes !!

One thing I have noticed however is that if I leave the task long enough and come back the next day lol it will eventually complete successfully. I've managed to update most of the TC agents this way.  This also applies to other tasks like 'Get Asset Information'.

So not really sure what the issue is, maybe after a long period of time HPDM falls back to an older encryption level ?
