HP PRO 400 G7 SFF
Microsoft Windows 11

Thinking of buying HP Pro 400 G7 SFF, the spare internal 3.5 drive bay can I add two Samsung 840 Pro SSD's that I have from a system I'm replacing (data only)

but it seems to me that if you have an HDD, it will have to be removed, to replace it with a sata SSD with 2.5 / 3.5 adapter
I don't think there's room for two SSDs, if it wasn't a small model, I'd say you could fix it somewhere, but that seems complicated to me!
See otherwise, with an adapter, you could transform it into an external USB SSD!
But re-read the documents carefully, I went through them quickly

The specific model I'm looking at has 512 GB M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe TLC SSD, and states also an internal 3.5 drive bay that can be used with a caddy to hold 2x 2.5 ssd's

so, do you have the answer to your question?
sorry i don't understand what you mean

You'll be fine.

It has that nice fast NVMe-controller M.2 form factor SSD that plugs into the PCIe bus so that will be your fastest boot/programs drive option. Make sure that you get it with the M.2 stick configured by HP as your boot drive, from the factory, if at all possible.

It also has 3 SATA ports internally. Those only would be SATA III ports these days, but the PCIe bus is even faster. There are many nice 2.5" form factor adapters that let you use a 3.5" form factor bay to hold two of the 2.5" SATA SSDs... now you only need to get proper SATA data/power cables over to them. They can be your documents/data drives.

Yes so in this case, @palcouk1  you have all the necessary information here
If you have two slots available, then there is no reason for your SSDs not to work!
Only there is always theory, and practice, we are not immune to a particular problem!
But yes your two SSDs should be able to work if that is the question!

my only doubt, because I don't know where you got the information of two possible ..
is at the level of the manual
32 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
7. You can also install a 2.5 inch hard drive into a 3.5 inch drive bay using an adapter bracket similar to the
following example. Slide the 2.5 inch drive into the 3.5 inch adapter bracket

so I don't see here, where you can place the second
But even if not possible, you can use an external ssd with a usb adapter, if it's for storage, it will be just as good!
