HP T740 Fan issue

I have been using a T740 for over 6 months now.

There seems to be an issue with the fan controller on this device. I have seen others point this issue out as well. At times the fan does not get change in speed with temperature and the controller PWM is locked to 13% duty cycle. The system overheats. In the latest Bios upgrade when the overheat is detected the fan is made to spin at maximum suddenly. In the previous Bios the system used to freeze.

Today I got a message fan not detected, on restart it was detected again, it could just be a Bios issue somewhere.

HP must look into this issue otherwise you may have a stockpile of Dead AMD's with in warranty claims.

I am not the only one, There are people talking about this issue here: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/hp-t740-thin-client-as-an-hp-microserver-gen7-upgr...

Fixed Fan speed control pulse when this issue shows up:

I agree with you, its the fan that may be slow to respond to the motherboard query. Its the Delta supplied fan, a replacement may be impossible. Let's see what HP has to say about it. The Bios change shows the issue is known.

Either the fan has a real problem (dusty? not spinning?),

or the fan is just "slow" to respond to a query from the motherboard, as soon as you power-on the computer.
