I'm in the process of setting up a new workstation intended to replace an old one. The plan is to keep the old workstation's hard drive and chassis and use it in the new one. The hard drive is a 2.5" SSD that is mounted inside a 3.5" SATA adapter/enclosure, fitted into a caddy that I'm planning on installing into the new workstation after this issue is dealt with.
At the moment the new workstation does not have an adapter for the caddy, and as such I have to manually connect the SATA and power cable to the disk. When I connect it and turn on the computer, it goes straight to HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and when I try to exit it returns an error stating "BootDevice Not Found: Please install an operating system on your hard disk" and error code 3F0.
I have ran both the memory test and the hard drive checks (quick and extensive), and both pass. I've also tried using the drive on the old workstation after performing these tests and it works fine, operating system and all.
What can I do about this?
Thanks in advance.
